Tech training for girls in Egypt “Girls in Tech”

The “Girl in Tech” project is a comprehensive initiative designed to address the prevalent lack of awareness and misconceptions surrounding the tech industry in Egypt, particularly among girls. Through targeted interventions, the project aims to empower 70 girls by providing them with the necessary resources, skills, and support to pursue successful careers in technology. By bridging the gender gap and fostering inclusivity within the tech sector, the project seeks to contribute to the socioeconomic development of Egypt and empower girls to become leaders in the field of technology.

Activities

  1. Awareness Workshops and Seminars: Organizing educational workshops and seminars to raise awareness about the tech industry, its diverse career paths, and the opportunities available for girls.
  2. Mentorship and Guidance: Providing one-on-one mentorship and guidance to help participants navigate their career paths, set goals, and develop the skills and confidence needed to succeed in the tech industry.
  3. Technical Training and Resources: Offering hands-on technical training and access to resources, including coding classes, online tutorials, and educational materials, to equip girls with the skills and knowledge required for tech careers.
  4. Networking Opportunities: Facilitating networking opportunities with professionals, industry experts, and organizations within the tech sector to help participants build connections, gain insights, and explore potential career opportunities.

Main Expected Results:

  1. Graduation of 70 empowered girls equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to pursue successful careers in the tech industry.
  2. Increased awareness and interest in tech careers among 700 girls in Egypt, leading to a more diverse and inclusive tech sector.
  3. Reduction in gender disparities within the tech industry as more girls enter and thrive in technology-related fields.
  4. Establishment of a supportive and vibrant community of female tech professionals who mentor and inspire future generations of girls in tech, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

The project received development cooperation financing from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia in 2024.
