STEM SCHOOL in Africa

Riga TechGirls is bringing the Latvian Summer School for Girls to South Africa and Cameroon!

AIm of the Project

The overall aim of the project is to show girls, their parents and the society of South Africa and Cameroon that STEM fields are not only meant for everyone but that studying and working in these fields can be exciting.

Activities

The project “Science and Technology School for Girls” plans to implement several activities:
1. Create an exchange of experience with representatives of South African and Cameroonian organizations that train girls on similar issues in these countries, inviting and organizing the participation of these representatives in the Science and Technology Summer School in Latvia in July 2023.
2. To support the partners of South Africa and Cameroon in the creation of a Science and Technology School in each of their countries during the autumn school holidays of 2023.
3. To support another Science and Technology school for girls in the spring of 2024.
4. To invite the best girls from schools in South Africa and Cameroon to visit Latvia and participate in the Science and Technology Summer School for girls in Latvia in July 2024.

We want to show that girls are capable and great in science and technology and that they have great potential, and thus also inspire other organizations and schools to promote and support girls in these subjects on a daily basis. We believe that girls throughout the Republic of South Africa and throughout the Republic of Cameroon would benefit from such a program and change in attitude.
